How to cure your tattoo?

The secrets of proper care for your new tattoo:

how to cure a tattoo

✅ Curing a tattoo well is as important as the fact that it is well done. As much as they do a good job if you do not have certain care you can risk having an infection in your tattoo or complication.

First We will keep the tattoo covered with transparent film (it can be the film you have in the kitchen) and change it every 4 hours. Every time you remove it, you should wash your tattoo with pH Neutral soap and water and cover it again with the film.

With the transparent film what we do is protect the tattoo from external agents, especially on the first day, when the tattoo is fresh and thus prevent it from becoming infected. And beware with touching the tattoo with dirty hands or exposing it in places where it could get dirty and infected.

From the second day the tattoo should not be covered with film.

It will be washed 3 times a day with soap and water, then applying a thin layer of the tattoo balm or cream recommended by the tattoo artist.

Normally 3 times a day is enough, but this can vary a bit depending on the skin and the area.

The important thing is to keep the clean and hydrated tattoo.

We use a butter for tattoos which you can buy directly in our studio. There is it in small and large format. In fact when we tattoo, we use this butter.

If you want your tattoo to look spectacular and in all its splendor, you should avoid direct sunlight. And, of course, you will not be able to bathe in the sea or pool water for at least 14 days (neither sunbathe nor UVA rays).

It is also important not to tear off the skins or scabs that may come out as they will fall off on their own.

You also do not have to scratch the tattooed area. It is important do not sweat excessivelywhenever possible. This is avoiding physical exercise for the first few days.

No saunas, no spa until it is healed.

You should continue to apply the tattoo cream when you see that it is dry (or sun cream if you are going to get the sun on your skin). It is very important to keep it well hydrated.

Think that the better you treat your tattoo at first, the better it will look later.

DO YOU WANT IT IN A SUMMARY?

  1. The first day keep it covered with transparent film, changing it every 4 hours (washing it with soap and water before each change).
  2. From the second day, do not cover it anymore and start using the cream (recommended by the tattoo artist) 3/4 times a day (ALWAYS washing it previously with soap and water) applying a thin layer.
  3. Always keep the tattoo CLEAN and well hydrated.
  4. Do not sunbathe (or UVA rays), or bathe in pool and / or beach water, until it is fully healed.
  5. A tattoo can take 2-3 weeks to heal, so care needs to be taken throughout the healing process.
  6. Let the scabs or skins fall off on their own.
  7. Once the tattoo has healed, use high sun protection if you are going to expose it to the sun or UVA rays.

In our studio we use a professional tattoo butter and it is from the German brand Believe, specially designed for the care and cleaning of newly tattooed skin. Helps the skin in rebuilding a protective barrier with natural ingredients.

Believa tattoo healing products are free of synthetic dyes and fragrances, paraffins, preservatives, silicones, parabens, and PEG emulsifiers.

This tattoo butter helps reduce itchiness and redness on the skin. It also helps maintain color.

To achieve optimal healing and long-lasting shine of the tattoo it is important to avoid scab formation after tattooing. This butter keeps the skin soft and reduces irritation. Thorough care can prevent infection or scab formation.

In our tattoo studio you can buy the small and large formats (it will depend on the type of tattoo you have done). And yes, we also use this butter to heal our own tattoos.
